I recently watched The Days and it got me interested in (safe and reliable) nuclear power.
Nuclear power causes 0.03 deaths per unit of energy generated. To put that in perspective brown coal causes 32.72 and solar causes 0.2.
Nuclear power is the second cleanest power source only being beaten by solar.
Yes, but solar panels need to be replaced often creating waste. Solar panels are also often made with unethical practices such as low wages for factory workers and dangerous conditions.
Nuclear reactors store all the waste they generate nearby the reactor, it is not dangerous and it wont cause any issues unless humans mess around with it. Nuclear waste poses no threat if you leave it the fuck alone.
It is very hard to make a nuke, you need thousands of people and trillions of dollars. A small or medium country insist going to make a nuke any time soon.
It simply does not work (yet) we need a solution to the energy crisis NOW not in 5-20 years.
The reactor was already a outdated design and should have been decommissioned.
Only one person died from the incident itself. All other deaths were from the earthquake or tsunami.
The incident caused no harm to humans or the environment. TBH the crappy response by officials caused more harm than the reactor itself.
